Unemployment rises in Jakarta The Jakarta Post ,  Jakarta   |  Tue, 05/19/2009 3:33 PM  |  Jakarta The Jakarta manpower agency reported Tuesday that the number of people in the city without jobs in February increased by 67,000 to 571,000 from the same period last year. The agency forecast a rise in unemployed for June and July, when high school students graduate, as many companies are still not opening new vacancies. Deded Sukendar, head of the city's manpower agency, said that the city saw 3,000 job losses in early 2009. "The largest occurred in February.
