Some 10,000 Acehneses migrant workers deported through Tanjungpinang

Tanjungpinang (ANTARA News) - The Tanjungpinang Social and Manpower Agency said some 10,000 Indonesian migrant workers hailing from Aceh employed in Malaysia in the  2007-2008 period had returned to their places of origin through Sri Bintan Pura port in Tanjungpinang.

Head of the agency Said Parman stated on Monday that some  80,000 of Acehnese went to Malaysia to seek a new life in the wake of the tsunami which had devastated their homes.

He said many of the Indonesian migrant workers from Aceh did not have any legal papers in Malaysia, and since 2007 in stages they had  been deported through Tanjungpinang. (*)
