2,574 Indonesian migrant workers repatriated

Medan, N Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - Up to February 2009 the number of migrant workers from North Sumatra who had been deported from various countries had reached 2,574, and may increase further, especially those from Malaysia in view of the current global crisis.

"Compared to the situation last year, the number of migrant workers hailing from North Sumatera who had been deported had increased by 353," Head the Indonesian Migrant Workers Service, Placement, and Protection Agency Chaidir said here Tuesday.
While 1,250 had been repatriated in January, and in February their number reached 1,324.(*)
