Four Indonesian migrant workers that were abused by their Malaysian employers received cash donations from a Malaysian company in Jakarta on Thursday.
Ceriati Dapin, Nirmala Bonat, Siti Hajar Sadli and Modesta Rengga Kaka each receive Rp. 10 million (US$1000) from a Malaysian company, which wished to remain anonymous.
The cash was presented by Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato Zainal Abidin Zain to Nirmala and representatives of the other three victims.
"The purpose is to help them overcome this crisis in their lives so they can find new spirit and move forward," said Dato.
Siti and Modesta escaped from their respective employers in early June, after enduring long-term abuse. Their employers will be tried in Malaysian courts on August 25. Meanwhile, Ceriati's and Nirmala's employers have been convicted for their abuse.
