JAKARTA: Indonesian worker Umi Saodah, who became trapped in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, as war broke out, will arrive in the capital Tuesday afternoon, a Foreign Ministry official said Monday.

"Indeed, Umi Saodah will return to Indonesia tomorrow," the Foreign Ministry's director for protection of Indonesian citizens abroad Teguh Wardoyo told tempointeraktif.com.

"We have also informed the family (about her arrival),"  Wardoyo said.

According to official data, Saodah left to work in Palestine eight years ago with a company called PT Andro Meda Jakarta.

Saodah, from Central Java, however, initially worked in Jordan before settling in Palestine.

The ministry received information that she was detained for questioning at a local police station in relation to her dispute with her employers not long before the Israeli military operation started on Dec. 27. —JP
